TSD develops custom EGSEs (Electrical Ground Support Equipment) to support on board equipment development & testing phase and mission operations of:

  • experimental payloads
  • flight equipment

EGSE developed by TSD includes:

  • Ground Segment Network

The EGSE are provided together with the equipment or are developed as a stand-alone equipment. The Company's heritage covers several Programs as Microgravity Experiments, Sounding Rockets, Satellite Platforms, ISS payloads.


PRISMA SATELLITE EGSE

The EGSE  for the PRISMA satellite consists of a standard 19” industrial rack equipped with 6 drawers named:

  • PDU (Power Distribution Unit)
  • SDAB SCOE
  • 1553B I/F Unit
  • Temperature Acquisition Unit
  • Programmable Power Supplies
  • Rack Industrial PC

All the drawers, except the 1553B I/F Unit, communicate over a Ethernet LAN; the AT-GS900/8 unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet Switch is used. The LAN network can be accessed from the outside.
 


MASER 12 DVS EGSE

With MASER12 program, TSD has introduced the DVS I/F Bridge, an handy tool that is delivered to each team involved in the development of the Experiment Modules. This small equipment allows the user to directly interface the H2VMU since the very preliminary phases of development when all the other sounding rocket infrastructure equipment (e.g. MASM and RAMSES ground units) are normally not available. The Bridge is also designed to be used during the rocket countdown; in this phase it is accommodated, by means of a standard 19’’ frame, inside the metallic boxes usually employed to contain the experiment modules’ support equipment in the rocket’s launch tower. The Bridge is then connected to the Block House control center through the Ethernet range umbilical                                                                                                         


SENTINEL-3 EGSEs

TSD has developed EGSEs for the SENTINEL-3 satellite platform. The developed SCOEs are

  • OLCI Image SCOE
  • 1553 SCOE

DHU3 EGSE - FOTON M3 Mission
  • Experiment Telemetry acquisition, storage, extraction, sort and delivery
  • DHU Telemetry acquisition, storage and  on line visualization
  • Video Telemetry decompression and visualization
  • Telecommand editing and transmission to Experiments and DHU
  • DHU Control
  • SW Upload
  • Support the mission operations as part of the so-called Telescience Control Station

Mission statistics:
  • TM data and Video downloaded about 1Gbytes
  • TC uploaded about 1000


CDIC EGSE (Command, data, video) - MASER 10 Mission
 
  • Flight Module management during pre-flight, flight and post-flight activities
  • Interactive control of the module
  • 4 P.I. Workstations for on-line images decompression and visualization
  • 2 Viewer Workstations in Scientific Center and 1 Engineering Workstation to send configuration commands to the H2VMU

The P.I. Workstations decompress and display the images coming from the module cameras and are able to send telecommands to perform the fluid injection.
